For a span of seven decades, the SAV cow herd has been built upon continuous selection pressure and uncompromising breeding commitment to make it the foundation of this program. Stringent demands have been placed on fertility, fleshing-ease and udder quality along with structure and phenotype and the ability to wean heavy calves under range conditions year after year. The result of these efforts have gained the SAV cow herd a worldwide reputation for superior quality and function. The SAV cow herd contributes to the success of 106 Angus production sales for the Schaff family and a battery of bulls that sell each year that gather some of the most progressive cowmen in the country. It has produced more sires in the Fall 2008 National Sire Evaluation Report than any other herd in the nation.
